Photos: National night out

National Night Out was celebrated at Triangle Park in Willits on Aug. 8 and the annual party was hosted by the Basalt Police Department, Roaring Fork Fire Rescue and Eagle County Sheriff’s Office. A country-wide event to build relationships between local law enforcement and the community, this year’s National Night Out was held in the shadow of the Lake Christine Fire area, a reminder of all the agencies that came together to fight the fire and support the community.

Officers from the various agencies talked to locals, and even volunteered for the dunk tank as a band played lively tunes and members of the Lions Club Basalt grilled up hamburgers and hot dogs. Behind the park, fire trucks, police cars and other emergency vehicles opened their doors to let kids explore the tools and sit in the driver’s seat. A bouncy house and other kids games added to the enjoyable evening in Triangle Park.
