The sweet, smooth sounds of jazz filled the air in Basalt and Willits last Saturday for the inaugural Pumpkin Jazz event. Hosted by The Art Campus At Willits (TACAW), 10 different performers played in 10 different venues at the same time, so attendees could hop from one concert to another.
Pumpkin Jazz was brought to Basalt by TACAW artistic director Marc Breslin. Initially, Pumpkin Jazz was held in two locations four years ago and funded by the Town of Basalt. This year, TACAW collaborated with other local restaurants, venues and nonprofits to make the event happen. Of the 10 performers, six groups were from Denver and four from right here in the Roaring Fork Valley.
The event was a great way to keep the arts and culture scene of the Mid-Valley going as fall takes hold and The Temporary in Willits, which closed last spring, develops into The Permanent. It was also an opportunity for individuals and families to gather for a shared meal, a beautiful night out and good company.
