Saturday morning at Crown Mountain Park started off cool with all the opportunity to heat up for another beautiful, end-of-summer day. Filling quickly with school buses of young cross-country runners headed to their meet, and families enjoying a morning walk, more than 50 people made their way to the big, open field to get their workout on for Community Fitness in the Park.
Hosted by TAC Fitness, team members led the community, who represented a cross-section of ages, in a Pound pre-workout (a rhythmic exercise routine with sticks, pictured here), followed by a series of exercises to build core strength, endurance and healthy living habits. The open space of Crown Mountain provided plenty of room for anyone to join and the workout was well attended, lasting from 8:30 to 10 in the morning and leaving plenty of time to still enjoy Saturday.
TAC trainers Stephanie Power Smith and Amy Honey kicked the morning off with an energetic Pound workout. Teaching participants a range of moves that allowed them to have fun and dance it out, Smith and Honey had community members moving to everything from Bruno Mars to Tori Kelly, smiling the whole time as they drummed their way through the morning. Community Fitness in the Park is free to attend for anyone interested and the next workout at Crown Mountain will be announced at a later time.
