The Basalt Public Arts Commission (BPAC) recently announced the availability of 2019 Public Arts Grant Funding. The program is offered in partnership with the town of Basalt. Applications will close on June 30, and will offer financial support and assistance in an effort to increase public art and appreciation, education and participation in the arts among community members in the Basalt area.
A second round of applications will open in August to round out this inaugural public arts program totaling $40,000 in funding available, according to a statement.
“Individual artists and organizations may request funds between $500 and $20,000 for general operating or project support, including creation of public art, educational opportunities, or community events in the areas of visual, musical, literary, and performing arts—with the intention of creating artwork for the Basalt area,” it was noted.
Applications are not limited to those residing in the Basalt area, although implementation of proposed programs and projects must take place in Basalt and/or adjacent areas. BPAC will review all applications and make recommendations to the Basalt Town Council, who will then make decisions on final grant awards.
