All nine tips were fundamental, valuable and easy to adopt. The one that really stuck with me was the Google My Business (GMB) tip, because it’s free, easy and so critical to a business’ online visibility, to the point that there’s really no excuse for not having a GMB profile.
If you are a local business in Basalt, having an updated and optimized GMB account and presence will help your customers find you. It’s surprisingly easy to set up and to manage your business’ online presence and appearance in Google Search and Google Maps.
Most commonly, people see a Google My Business profile when they Google the name of a business. It’s the panel that usually appears on the top right of your computer screen when you search, and it provides quick and useful information about that business, including: location/map, operating hours, contacts, offers, website link, photos reviews and more.
As you can see, the GMB profile provides anyone searching for your business with basic information and an easy way to find you. It also provides people conducting a generic search for products or services in Basalt an easy way to locate your business on a Google search map.
I gave this a try and googled “home goods in Basalt,” and found three businesses along with basic information on their locations, hours, directions and website.
If as a business owner, you want: 1) increased visibility online and in online searches, 2) more traffic to your website, social channels and in-store and 3) a better customer experience online, then you will benefit from a GMB profile.
Bottom line: Your free business profile on Google My Business helps you reach and engage with local customers across Google Search and Maps. The more Google knows about you and understands your business, the better it will inform others. If you’re really good, you’ll have your customers provide reviews on your GMB profile, which will up your ranking and encourage people to select your business over others.

One of the best perks is that you can add photos and videos, which give you the ability to control first impressions and show off your best product or services. Your visibility will improve if you add photos, so add photos and a good description. Make sure to also add as many categories that match your business offer, and also take advantage of GMB posts to announce events, blogs, offers and more — it’s free advertising!
