RFWJ Staff Report
Aspen Valley Hospital is hosting its third annual Fresh & Healthy Community Picnic on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m – 1 p.m., outside and next to the Midvalley Health Institute, 1460 East Valley Rd. in Basalt. It is open to all. The picnic will feature fresh, wholesome dishes prepared by AVH’s nutrition team, plus games for the kids and live music.
Some of the AVH physicians, nurses and other staff who work in the Mid-Valley will be at the picnic as well, according to a press release. That will give people a chance to meet the staff and learn about the services that are available in Basalt. AVH recently opened Aspen Valley Primary Care, which adds to the services it already provides in the Mid-Valley, such as the Midvalley Surgery & Imaging Center, OrthoAspen and the After-Hours Medical Care.
Suggested donation for the picnic lunch is $10 for adults and $5 for kids and seniors, cash or check only.

Ice cream and more
On Sept. 11, from 4-6 p.m., the Eagle County Board of Commissioners invites community members to join them for ice cream and conversation at the June Community Park, located at the corner of El Jebel Road and JW Drive.
“All residents and business owners are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts on local issues,” according to a press release. “The event is one in a series of outings intended to allow constituents to connect with elected officials outside the confines of a formal meeting. Past meet ups have included hiking, biking and skiing.”
